With the myriad of recreational,
cultural and themed attractions that
await you right in Ocala, Florida, you
don't have to travel more than a few
minutes to enjoy some of the best that
Florida has to offer.
Downtown Ocala provides a wealth of
shopping and dining experiences as well
as art galleries, exhibits and special
events.
Both public and private golf, tennis and
recreation facilities populate the city
and its picturesque countryside.
The arts flourish in Marion County
through the Appleton Museum, with its
outstanding cultural exhibits, and the
Ocala Civic Theatre with a wide array of
award-winning dramatic and musical
productions. Opportunities exist for
music appreciation through the Central
Florida Symphony Orchestra and the
Marion Civic Chorale. The Marion
Cultural Alliance is a
community-sponsored agency that
encourages art programs and appreciation
of all cultural activities in the
community.
Silver Springs, a national landmark and
nature theme park on 350 acres, is
Florida’s original tourist attraction,
world famous for its sparkling spring
waters and the glass-bottom boats
invented there in 1878. Live
animals, a Jeep safari, boat tours, a
tots play land and top-name country and
rock-n-roll entertainment keep the park
lively. Next door, Wild Waters, a
fabulous nine-acre family water park,
adds to the excitement during the summer
with water slides, speed flumes and a
450,000-gallon wave pool
Marion County is renowned for its
natural beauty with many lakes, rivers,
crystal clear springs and nature parks
throughout the county. If the
prospect of canoeing down a crystal
clear stream amidst the largest sand
pine forest in the world sounds
appealing to you, Ocala is worth
investigating. The region's freshwater
streams, rolling hills and clean air
remain unspoiled and are frequently used
for idyllic scenes in Hollywood movies.
Camping and natural attractions
throughout Ocala offer visitors a chance
to relax and unwind amidst these
pristine surroundings. Opportunities for
fishing, boating, swimming and
watersports are plentiful as well.
As the horse capital of the world,
equestrian activities and shows abound
in Ocala.
Yet with Ocala's great central Florida
location, you are approximately one hour
from Tampa, Orlando, and each coast,
making it easy for you to enjoy Busch
Gardens, Universal Studios, Disney World
or any of the other theme parks or
attractions.
