Ocala, Florida is located in the heart
of central Florida, approximately 70
miles NW of Orlando and Disney World, 75
miles NE of Tampa, and 65 miles due west
of Daytona, and is often called the
crossroads of Florida for good reason.
As the gateway to over 16 million
Floridians, Ocala/Marion County is
within a half-day drive of all of
Florida's major cities
Ocala in Marion County is at the hub of the system of
federal and state highways that
crisscross the county. Area
residents enjoy easy access to
Interstate 75 for north/south travel, to
U.S. highways 27, 301, and 441, and
state roads 40 and 200, which connect
Ocala with points east to the Atlantic
and west to the Gulf of Mexico.
Greyhound bus line provides daily
passenger and package express service.
The Ocala International Airport is
located six miles west of downtown Ocala
and serves the growing corporate and
industrial needs for the area and has
expanded to include an FAA Aircraft
Rescue Firefighting Training Facility
and an emergency response driver’s
training center.
Gainesville Regional Airport, which is a
35-mile drive from Ocala, serves the
region with connections nationwide.
International flights are less than two
hours away in Orlando, Tampa, and
Jacksonville.
AMTRAK provides daily passenger train
service, and CSX Transportation, the
nation’s largest Class 1 railroad,
carries freight throughout the United
States and Canada.
Marion County’s population is currently
served by a comprehensive transportation
system. Within the urban area, SunTran
operates fixed public transit routes
serving both industrial and residential
service areas.
The Local Transportation Sector has
nearly doubled since 1991, and many of
the carriers represented in our market
offer a level of service comparable to
major transportation hubs.
